Perhaps people should be a mix of both? If everyone was allowed to let their inner selves come free unhindered, there would be too much chaos to handle. Morality would go down the drain, people would go too far too much. On the other hand, we shouldn't be robots doing what the man tells us to do, with him only doing what the predetermined laws tell him to.
We should be a good mix, a mix of good and bad, a mix of the irrational pleasures and true values, a mix of the super ego and id.
A mix of ourselves, and our world.
