I don't think bolters eject the casings, they fire the whole bullet.
Nice work Ninja.

In DoW2 you and Space Marine you can see shell casings getting ejected.

I know Lasguns are the shit. But they do, so they make a mess. Lasguns 4 lyfe.
In DoW2 you and Space Marine you can see shell casings getting ejected.
bolters eject shells in games just because it looks fucking nice
in lore they're caseless [sp]i think[/sp]
I know Lasguns are the shit. But they do, so they make a mess. Lasguns 4 lyfe.
so where did you even get the idea that we're discussing lasguns here?
I'm pretty sure that last time I read the Lexicanum (and it's been a while so I could be wrong) but I think there's both caseless and cartridge versions of bolter weapons. I remember them saying that just the round itself is about the size of an entire 40mm grenade, cartridge and all, so that would require a LOT of propellant. But the thing is that caseless ammunition is really only desirable for weapons that fire from the open bolt position, because the residual heat left in the barrel and chamber would cause rounds to start cooking off in the magazine. Cased ammunition has the benefit of a lot of that excess heat being drawn out with the ejected cartridge plus the next one being chambered absorbs some too, dramatically reducing the chance of a cook off. Given how fuckhuge bolter rounds are it would likely be more practical for them to used cased ammunition because with the amount of propellant it must take to send those rounds downrange it's going to generate a LOT of heat.
But I mean there's so many different patterns of bolter so would it really be surprising if there were both kinds of ammunition in use?
If I remember right - heavy bolters use the caseless version and normal bolters use the cased ones.
imo, gun fire shadow too sharp on asian dude. Still good though.
