You have probably seen my HK-Drone. This is the new HK-Aerial (aka Hunter Killer) as seen in Terminator Salvation.
This is the refrence picture I used:

My HK-Aerial will not have the "open" mode as seen in the above image. I do not remember seeing this mode in the movie either.
These are the pics of my current HK-Aerial:

It has an all new flight system, much different than the one used in the HK-Drone. Instead of inputing a desired angle in, then increasing thrust as the elevation drops (hard to see but this is how the drone works) I input a desired forward thrust, and the Aerial calculates the proper angle to rotate each thruster to to get the desired thrust. As a result, the Aerial is MUCH more stabile at high speeds, with little or no dipping as it flys, except for some at very high speeds. While this seems like tirvial Trigonometry, it is, but the hard part is actually getting E2 to calculate Pitch from -180 to 180, instead of 0 to 90 to 0 to -90 and back to 0
I have also made the thrusters work upside down. No, they don't negate the thrust, the thrusters actually can point downward when it is too high in the air and push it back down. With this development, I will be able to make the Aerial do quick barrel rolls, without freaking out or crashing. The HK-Aerial from Terminator Salvation actually does a barrel roll when it is released from the cargo transport and attacks the persuing A-10 Thunderbolts. This will be much the same.
At the moment it does fly, but it has no motional awareness so it does not counteract any translational or rotational movement along the x-y plane, but it is stable.
My plans are to use a mouse aimed stearing system, that controls similar to how Tenchi's 3D flight does, just, not in full 3D. I will add the 2 turrets underneath it and also add my own missile system.
Sorry for neglecting the HK-Drone thread, I was too anxious to not work on the Aerial, I will try to get a video up for both the Drone and the Aerial soon, as well as post the code for my missile system.
Looks cool! Really awesome work, I love the HK-Aerial!
Love the flight system and the body shape but I would suggest making it bigger and also adding some vanilla props to even out all the corners and shape the ariel more

Great 2 see you are still working on this, looking bloody nice
keep it up
Looks a bit small, it was way bigger in the movie.
Amazing. Planning on releasing a dupe, so we can try the awesomeness.

It is small, its is about 1/2 to 2/3 scale from my approximations of the movie. It is hard to tell because it never shows a person standing with an HK next to him in the same scene in the picture. All I had to go by was how big it "looked" and also with the slow flyby scene where Marcus and Kyle were hiding on top of the building.
I didn't want to go full size because it would be too huge to do anything with, and it would take a lot more props. At the moment this has less props than the HK-Drone, but I only finished the main body work. Believe me though, when this thing flys overhead, it "feels" big and powerful and a bit scary. It is going to have a really nice cockpit in section in front of the hull cavity, It is big enough to fit a pilot comfortably and to have pleanty of control panels and a nice view. The main problem at the moment is that if I were to make a 1st person view in the cockpit, there are lots of props in the way and the view would be a bit cluttered.
Other than the props being in the way, I was thinking of having the "windows" with an alpha of 255, and all black, then have them fade to like 100 after the pilot starts hops in and turns on the ship's start up process. I am not sure how I will make the chair accessible to anyone though w/o noclip.
As of now, I added some awesome sounds to it, and it now has complete motion awareness, and counter's all unwanted movement such as sliding when turning and going forward forever when you let off the throttle.
I still need to add in the mouse aimed system for it, so i can make A and D strafe instead of turn.
Edit:
I do plan on eventually releasing a dupe of this, but It will probably be a while. I want to release the HK-Drone first before I release this.
That is quite nice. I am impressed.
@ andre, the map is gm_freespace revolution
It looks sick, but it could use a bit more exterior detail. Material-wise, it looks sort of bland in comparison to the pictures (no, I don't expect you to replicate detail perfectly).
I think your next step should be to add the little extra details, because it'll really go a long way.

Yeah I know what you mean. I am not going to let this get over 100 props. It is 78 at the moment with the cockpit interior pretty much done. None of the textures looks right for the HK. They are all either too cluttered/busy looking, or too bland, or have a really bad pattern that looks horrible. And I still need to add the weapons systems, I think that will push me REALLY close to 100 props after those are done.
On top of that, there are no really good screenshots of the textures of the HK, cause it is either that black and white picture, or the shots from the movie are too fast or far away for good detail.
Can we have some cockpit pics?
-snip-
Uh sure, its not really detailed yet but I'll see what I can do.
Edit:
lol, I saw that frog there Anonymuzz
Edit Edit:
I am pretty tired so I am not gonna get on gmod tonight. I might catch up on LOST or Heroes though. I will have lots of time saturday afternoon though.
