Hey,
maybe this is a stupid question but I want to know how many cores a GMod dedicated server can use.
Someone posted that it can only use 1 core, is that true?
Also would it be possible to allow up to 4/8 cores to improve performance?
Is this still up to date? (Because it is from 2010)
Anybody tried this on a dedicated server and can share experience with it?

I think that post is because of Garrys mod with multicore.
Is it the same for garrys mod servers with multicore?

It is up to date, if you got to GMod settings you'll see that multicore rendering is gray and unchangeable.

It does not exist for servers. The multicore thing was for rendering and since server does no rendering it's completely irrelevant there. And since GMod uses LuaJIT it's impossible anyway since LuaJIT cannot be used across multiple threads.
In other words - you are screwed.
The best thing you can do is pick a CPU with best single core performance (so none of the AMDs)
Thanks for the great help with this!
