Yep. A STALKER roleplay gamemode. I will not use any custom content in it, except for perhaps maps. Done -A basic HUD. Probably temporary. -An organized and well-working inventory system. -A successful server/client entity system. -Working NPC traders, with buying and selling. -Artifacts which spawn and can be sold. -Basic glowing for artifacts. -Several joinable factions. -A money SENT for when you drop money. To be done -More artifacts. -Maps. -Anomalies (Thanks for reminding me, Lyoko!) -Radio channels. Create your own channel and invite other people to it. -Several messaging systems. -Other ideas? Notes -I suck at map ideas. Give me map ideas and I'll maybe work with them. Contribute some prefabs for buildings and such and I'll probably use them. -Artifact ideas, including price, rarity, and model, are greatly appreciated. -I'll consider other ideas you give me. Pictures (Glow pulses) STOP! UPDATE TIME! I have now done: -Redid artifact weight, weighs 2kg instead of 20kg so you can carry more. -Added dynamic day/night cycles. Day will get brighter, then darker. Uses global floats and postprocessing to affect the clients' contrast. Will not affect players if under a roof (and as such it looks a little crappy, but hey.) -Added more weapons: The P228 Handgun and the Nighthawk Handgun. -Added a tradeskill system: Using a basic recipe system, players can now follow preset recipes to create items. SENTs for item components have been added. Players can currently create their own AK47 for a total of 70 RU, if they buy the box of metal, the gun stock, and the magazine components, and use the recipe to create them. Still working on a HUD system for this; currently uses console commands -Added being able to buy a crosshair for 2000 RU. All this does is add a little red dot to help you aim. Useful, I think. -Added a radio channel system. You can create a new radio channel with /newchannel <name>. You can then invite people to join your channel with /joinchannel <name>. Once inside a channel, your team say is automatically rerouted to talk inside your group channel, where only your channel members can hear you. This will allow for organized groups of bandits for warring on other bandits, or for groups of people who gather together to search for artifacts and such. -Added, and still working on a blowout. I am not sure how close to STALKER this blowout is, because I never got that far. These blowouts happen every 10 seconds to 3 minutes. When one occurs, a loud explosion sound is played, and env_shake with massive amplitude and frequency shake the entire map, env_fades fade in everyone's screen and out, and (still being worked on) every physics object, including anomalies and artifacts, are chucked around randomly. This comes with a little countdown timer counting down until the blowout. -Added a "Blowout Imminent" when a Blowout reaches within 30 seconds. During this a siren loops on the player, warning them to get to cover immediately. Being stuck outside a blowout is very, very, very bad. New pictures!
Wow.. Could be extraordinary. Good luck!
Wow.. Talk about fast replies! You get a winner for being so fast! :v:!
Looks fun :)
Heh, a bit unoriginal, but sweet! I can port stuff from STALKER, if you need it..but then again, you said you're going to try not to use custom content. Oh yeah, don't forget anomalies!
I think you need to put in some placeholders from Id and Valve ;).
Oh! Right! I forgot to add Anomalies to the To do list.
You jump from one project to another very quickly.
Very nice. First gamemode with your inventory script. Also, are you going to make the source public? I would to run this on my server. Once it gets back up...
Sounds really nice. Do you need help ? But please don't drop this again like you did with that cooperative thingy :D
You need to add the inaccurate guns from stalker too! I'll download it when it's released, this is one of the best ideas ever!
Conna already made anomalies, I think he will give you permission to use them.
I love STALKER RPing.
Very nice gamemode. Even though you don't want to use custom content, Dav0r's gold bar model would make a great artifact.
add in Zombies to replace Mutants. like, the Fast ones represent the Mutant dogs, the poison for the Boars, the regulars for the mutant Humans. and have them at a timed respawn, too. EDIT: map idea: a forest, with a cluster of houses for the Stalker camp, which is on a side of a road that leads from one end (a military base) to the other (a nuclear power plant filled with regular zombies). a little ways off the other side of the road is another group of houses for the Bandit camp. place fast and poison Zombies around the forest as you see fit. and a river somewhere, too. damn, if only we had S.T.A.L.K.E.R. player models for this.
You jump from one project to another very quickly.
Yes I do. I start then kill about 4-5 gamemodes a month. Most of them I don't bother making threads about.
You need to add the inaccurate guns from stalker too! I'll download it when it's released, this is one of the best ideas ever!
Give me good weapon cones for the weapons and I'll try and get down good.
Conna already made anomalies, I think he will give you permission to use them.
I know but I want to try making them myself. I made the artifacts, and I want to learn anomalies too. Shouldn't be all too hard, I'd think. Anyone have any ideas for artifacts/anomalies? Or have any prefabs/maps to contribute?
Anyone have any ideas for artifacts/anomalies? Or have any prefabs/maps to contribute?
look above your post.
Those are NPC ideas. Not anomaly/artifact ideas.
had a map idea, though.
Your map idea is pretty much what I'm doing already. Started it yesterday. A cluster of shack/houses in a small village, a dirt road leading up to a military installation, like lab X18 or lab X16. All I got planned so far though.
ah, well. I still like it.
I can make some artifact models if you wish.
Got two more artifacts done. Artifact info Brainmelt Bust - 10 on map at one time - large orange glow - Sells for 300 Vasehead Artifact - 4 on map - medium blue glow - sells for 700 Mutant Spine - 1 on map - small green glow - sells for 1400. Working on anomalies at the moment. :D
You need a beta tester? I'm perfect for the job! I don't have anything else to do...Oh, and you just HAVE to add some S.T.A.L.K.E.R guns too, if you do, this will be perfect! Some other suggestions: Use zombies as monsters as someone said before, and have some of the stuff guarded by more zombies. NPCs that are in factions and are hostile to the factions they are hostile to in the game, if that can be done. Have Lone Wolfs wandering around the desert. As you may have noticed, I really think this is a good idea...
I'm by no means an expert mapper, but I might be able to contribute a few small-ish prefabs here and there. (A bunker, abandoned shack, maybe an underground tunnel?) What kinds of things are you looking for? Like I said, I'm not a mapping king, but I know my way around Hammer.
Since I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but hate Roleplaying, would you mind making a Death Match version?
Okay, this looks promising! I seriously hope you are going to release this, and to contribute, I have some ideas for anomalies that would be scattered across the map. Acid - This would give tte area an almost imperceptible greenish foggy/heat haze effect and slowly burn and severely disorientate anyone passing through it. Make sure there is lots of screaming for the beings involved. The process should also slow the unlucky chap down severely in terms of movement speed. Grav - This one would be one of the more unpredictable anomalies. Very hard to notice, it would randomly push, pull and toss players around within it's radius, but not right away. You could, theoretically pass through one without having it affect you at all. Often all three forces would work combined in strange and deadly ways, tearing the victim apart. A SWEP should be made that throws small bolts outwards from the user to test for this anomaly, and anomalies like this. Nothing too complicated, but a basic for all S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s. Should be accompanied by a very severe vision warping effect, squishing and morphing the player's screen in wierd ways to portray the sudden voiding of the laws of physics. Zone (Might be hard to do) - The Timezone anomaly, it would slow down the experienced time of anybody inside it's field of radius. The effect would be slightly black-holeish, representing the severity of the tear in space-time required to allow this to happen. Pwnage - The Pwnage anomaly. Highly dangerous, but fun. Marked by random orange pulse fluctuations throughout, but none of the anomalies should be particularily easy to notice. When you step into it's relatively small sized range, all props (and I mean all of them) get instantly sucked towards the player at somewhere around mach 5 and crush him. It was originally my friend's idea, but I just HAD to put it down here. Smoker - An anomaly that slowly strangles you over time, much like Vader's Force Choke or something... I'm not sure how some guy would rescue you from this... The effect's range would be bathed in a red light and it would be very short lived. It pulls you higher off the ground as it suffocates you. ET - Picture this: You see a light through the trees, an irridescent, harsh light. You walk towards it into a clearing and find a shimmering combine ball which explodes with that AR2 radial explosion exterminating stuff within a medium range. Only triggered if contact is made. Very few on the map, but yield valuable artifacts. Irrad - It would fill the entire space with a whiteish/orange light and your gieger counter would go off the effin' scale. The closer you got to it, the more your vision would get wierded,a nd I mean seriously wierded. it would go very bright, with a certan layer effect applied to it, I don't know how to exactly describe it. Basically, the entire thing would look like it BLED radiation. Anyway, color would drain from your vision, you would start hearing faint zombie moans, staccato bursts of comm static and combine reports, aswell as the sound of your heavy breathing. The white/orange light would get even more unbearably brillaint. I'm not sure what to add as a cimax at the end, but iw as thinking white envelops your vision, and you suddenly notice your dead, due tot he fact that the damage did not make any other indication of a loss of health other than the health meter slowly ticking down. You wouldn't make any sound by dying either, nor any message in the killcon. No corpse would be left either. You, effectively, never existed. Those are my ideas for now, and sorry if they might seem to hard to code :P.
1.) The original ones were unoriginal. 2.) Those models suck 3.) Why not have some fun artifacts! Also, I got anomalies to work finally. I got a basic damage anomaly done. I "borrowed" the pulsing from Conna (All I "borrowed" though.) I gave Conna credits in the anomaly cl_init. :)
Oh what the hell. My post disappeared. Fine I'll restate it. No. I won't.
Lua king for you! Can't wait for this.
