On my pointshop I have a few items from TF2. The people who do not have TF2 can't see them, so I was wondering is there a way I can make them download the materials for it when the join the server?
Yes, you'll have to setup fastDL though. It's necessary to do this with custom content because regularly the server will only send 20kb per second. Once they've downloaded the files they'll be able to see it in ingame and in pointshop. http://maurits.tv/data/garrysmod/wiki/wiki.garrysmod.com/index70e8.html There are two ways to setup, you could see if your server provider already has fastDL service or if not you'll have to make your own web server. FastDL is a complete copy of your whole garrysmod folder and files put into a URL. For example, 'http://www.yourserver.com/garrysmod' From that URL you should be able to access models, materials, sounds, etc. Here are some examples of how it should be setup:
http://www.yourserver.com/garrysmod/models/player/teh_gman.mdl http://www.yourserver.com/garrysmod/materials/dunno/sanic.vtf http://www.yourserver.com/garrysmod/sound/coin.wav
As far as I know it's illegal to use content from VALVe games without direct permission.
As far as I know it's illegal to use content from VALVe games without direct permission.
I am pretty sure VALVe doesn't care as long as you don't make money with it. We wouldn't be able to mount them then.

You could uh, make them download tf2.
tf2 is free. they do not care if you use their stuff. CS:S and others on the other-hand, technically is illegal. Though no one cares
