Whats a good tickrate for a full 80 slot server every day star wars ROLEPLAY??
"Developer Discussion"
Lol exactly thats why i posted it here because it has with me dev my server feel free to move it over to another section were people can comment your choice.
I don't think the tickrate alone will be enough. The quality and optimization of your content will also have to be a priority. Anyways I've often seen people say 33, but I don't know personally as I've never hosted a large server.
I don't know, a star wars ROLEPLAY?? seems like it's probably based off of DarkRP, which once it hits that amount of players there will be issues no matter what.
It is i run 75/75 fine with tickrate 22 also im number 22 on gamer tracker use to be number 6 :/ [editline]3rd November 2015[/editline] Other than that im just trying to squeeze those 80 players in:frown: [editline]3rd November 2015[/editline] Nah i dont lag at all 75/75 :) but im afraid if we try 80

Try it out and if you don't like it go back to 75?
30 tickrate for this amount of players You know.. The higher the rate the better the gameplay but higher the rate=more internet usage
30 tickrate for this amount of players You know.. The higher the rate the better the gameplay but higher the rate=more internet usage
dumb. The higher the rate, the smoother things are as they are calculated x times a second however this directly impacts performance, not "internet"- however granted you would use more bandwidth, but who cares about that these days? 16tick is 16 times a second, etc. Note that Think and Tick hooks speeds are based on this and by lowering your tickrate you are slowing them down which MAY cause issues depending on what they are doing, however it's best to test at 16, 33, 66 and I personally wouldn't go any higher or lower than this. It's all based on what the clockspeed of the specific core you're running on is.

I host a DarkRP server which had 70/70 everyday at one point, but I was experiencing lag in every tickrate i'd attempted to use (11,16,33), I then dropped to 60 playerslots, put my tickrate to 16 with some optimization, and no longer experience lag. Being that you host a starwars server that highly depends on firearms, you'd definitely want to keep a high tickrate (aim at 33 and take ALL content out of your server besides what's absolutely necessary).
Whats a good tickrate for a full 80 slot server every day star wars ROLEPLAY??
What is your server specs? If you're gonna run a 80slot server with high tickrate, you'd want a stable core. Like most people has already put out, 33 is a viable tickrate.
D3vine capped at 100 players and ran smoothly at 16 tick. Granted this was with a lot of work put into optimizing the code, and with arguably the best processor for the job as well. A lot of factors play into it. On top of lowering your tick rate, get someone to make sure your code itself is well oiled. Then use a Xeon E3 processor. Preferably the 1290v2/1270v3. Those tackled SrcDS best in my experience due to their great per-core performance.
Speaking of tickrate, what are the best options for these commands. I keep finding conflicting answers via Google. [lua] sv_minrate sv_maxrate sv_minupdaterate sv_maxupdaterate sv_mincmdrate sv_maxcmdrate sv_client_cmdrate_difference sv_client_predict sv_client_interpolate sv_client_min_interp_ratio sv_client_max_interp_ratio net_splitrate net_splitpacket_maxrate rate sv_max_queries_sec sv_max_queries_sec_global sv_parallel_sendsnapshot sv_parallel_packentities [/lua]

That's true, but only marginally. I suggested the Xeons mainly because places like NFO and Limestone use them and not i7s.
Why would you want to use what NFO uses?
I like this original non-darkrp-reskinned server! [t]http://i.imgur.com/kpqOVVc.png[/t] (That isn't a what a column formation looks like) [t]http://i.imgur.com/4VvV50K.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/3dLSjL7.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/MsXtgCt.png[/t] I would rate your server 7/7 custom points!
What the hell is 'GMOD emojis' ???
