Addons not working

I am hosted at NFO. I completely wiped my TTT Server. I installed ULX, works fine. I installed ModernMOTD addon from CH, doesnt work at all. I installed ULX TTT Extra Commands addon, doesnt work. For both of these, all you do is drop the folder of these scripts into the /garrysmod/addons folder, and they should work. But they wont. Any idea why?

I know for a fact that in the past, ModernMOTD next worked for my by installing it in the addons folder like you're supposed to. If I dropped its files right into /garrysmods/ it worked fine. But that was very sloppy, and I want to keep all of my installations clean.

I've even tried installing other addons of mine that I know work.. and they arent working.

Maybe you should mention that instead of making it seem that those two addons are broken. I suggest you move everything out of your addons folder and add each one back in until you get a problem.

I mean, I thought I made it pretty clear that my addons are not working all together, whatsoever, nadda, zip, one by one, tried, nothing, doesnt, work, comprende?

EDIT: oh ohhh wait! I finally, my 5th addon I tried worked! Pointshop..

Do I need a workshop to setup all of my addons? Like TTT Weapons, pointshop items/icons, and so forth?

or will FastDL sync work fine?

Because 70% of my addons wont even work if I just install them correctly into the garrysmod/addons/ folder. If i drop their files right into /garrysmod/ they work fine.
I dont understand why.

You'll need to do a FastDL sync if your addons are stored in the server, otherwise if your addon has custom content that the player needs to download, you'll need to force them to download the workshop file
