Teach me how to lua. Teach, teach, teach me how to lua. I think that could be a song and maybe even a dance!
I started learning lua by small simple scripts and gmods wikki. I am still learning and a beginner still but i am getting the hang of it, i already wrote some custom scripts and going a little more in advance so i suggest doing the same.
Get some small scripts from something like garrysmod.org and look threw them, dont copy and paste but look. Most programmers write comments on whats doing what so look out for those :]

Or if you have a secified way of thinking, which I do, you can get and handle things by your own way. This makes it much easier for me to learn. Also gameguysz advice is good. But I suggest learning the grammar first. You comments should be written properly so that people won't be wondering if everything in front of the "//" is a function or the things behind them.
