Hey my name if Foolio The Great. I know a lot of people always have ideas and always look for people to do all the work for them for free. Welp... this post is more or less no different. I have thought of a good idea for a gamemode but lack the skills necessary to make my gamemode a reality. But it doesn't hurt to try right? I'm learning how to script so if I can't get anyone to help, then I guess I will attempt a shitty version by myself, and maybe once thats made I can attract some other coders to help perfect it. Any suggestions or criticisms are much appreciated.
My Goal: To get some experience in modding/game design and to create a gamemode that I'm going to love to play.
My Plan: Assemble a team of people to work on the gamemode, spend a couple weeks planning, then begin to work on a basic version of the gamemode, test it privately, fix any bugs, create a website for the mode, test it publicly, then release the gamemode to public.
My Idea : Gang Roleplay (Name not 100% decided on) is a GMod gamemode, which is loosely based on the drug dealing aspect of the HBO hit show “The Wire”. There isn't really a set goal for the gamemode. Your goal can be what ever you want it to be, whether it's to have the most money on the server, have the highest respect score, have the largest gang, or to be the first to achieve the rank of OG. To make money, players have to buy drugs from one of the Drug Supplier NPC's or from another player who has more money and buys in bulk. The player then must find a corner to sell his drugs on. If a good corner is taken, you can try and take it from another player/gang. First you have to threaten him to leave, if he still doesn't leave you can use violence to move him off the corner, but if he's in a decent gang you can bet they will come back for it. To make a gang you must be the rank of “Gangsta” which requires a certain amount of game time on the server and a certain amount of money in the bank. Gang's get perks depending on how much money is in the gang vault, and only the boss or lieutenants can buy buildings to use as safe houses. Wondering what to do with all your money? First you must launder your money through the bank for a percentage. Because dirty money can only be spent on more drugs. With your clean money you can buy; ranks, bulk amount of drugs and guns, items to improve your respect level, clothes, gambling, and small businesses which gives you money over time.
(There is a lot more too is, this is just the basic idea)
Sounds like a good gamemode, The Wire is filmed where im from, Baltimore. Although i can't help out, im too busy working on my own gamemode.
So, kinda like a normal RP, but only drugdealers?
If everyone is selling drugs, why would someone buy them ?
