• HW Hyperdrive Video - Can soemone remake for my learning?

http://www.wegame.com/watch/Homeworld_Style_Hyperdrive/ Can someone remake this for me? It doesn't have to be perfect, I'm trying to pickup on LUA again and this kind of thing escapes me. It is an entity that you can weld onto a contraption and feed wire GPS co-ordinates. When activated it calculates the width and height of the contraption, opens a window to the correct size, and then does what the video shows. Part of this is me wanting a point of reference to learn from and part of this is me (and some others) wanting this thing released somehow - the guy never released it, unfortunately. If its really hyper-complicated just say and we need never speak of it again. EDIT: Yes I am expecting this to be used in Spacebuild, I figure the player's viewpoint shouldn't be a problem with this system as technically it teleports like the Hoverdrive does - it is the animation before and after that is causing me problems. I simply do not know how to do it. Ship fades out of view (and loses its physics on a per-prop basis as it fades) > wait 1 second > teleport > wait 1 second > reappear (physics comes back again per prop). To avoid conflicts and lag, freeze the contraption when the Drive is activated (this will prevent people activating it while moving plus any physics issues) then unfreeze after. Doable? Anyone else want this? Yes I know the title is misspelled. %20 of you wouldn't notice due to mind tricks though!
I think you're better off looking up the clipping plane related functions, because that thing has been inactive for more than a year.
I've seen a similar thing before, but when I last saw it, it was on a huge, full-scale Medbridge ship. It didn't quite have the same effect, but it was pretty close. EDIT: There's a thingy here which may be of some use: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=916745
I think you're better off looking up the clipping plane related functions, because that thing has been inactive for more than a year.
...which was why I was asking for a remake rather than the thing itself. But fair, I figured I'd get a similar response to that =] [editline]07:17PM[/editline]
I've seen a similar thing before, but when I last saw it, it was on a huge, full-scale Medbridge ship. Should be fine doing it the way I suggested to be fair, which I am currently working on. =]
This would be some much Win ... there'd be no Lose in sight. Maybe a hard effect to code, but it'd be so cool looking when used.
