• Workshopper refuses to upload new addons for past week

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I think I've tried being patient long enough. I have been trying to upload some addons since Friday last week, and have had no success. I was able to upload one addon that weighs in at 12 megs, but trying to upload an addon with about 30 megs fails. I do not get an error message, I do not get a progress bar, I just get stuck with this screen that says "uploading addons". My addons were under 100 megabytes, and I scaled some textures down even further. Like I said, I couldn't get the 30 meg addon to upload. I have no restricted files, no txt or anything. I tried uploading without my lua/autorun files, and still get nowhere. I get no error message. I get no confirmation that a anything is happening. I once sat at that screen for almost an hour, hoping that something was happening. I monitored my network use with task manager, and there is no traffic at all. What is going on? Have things changed lately that I just don't know about? Am I the only person that's having this problem? Please, someone help me. I have a lot of people looking forward to these addons and this is problem has already made me look like a fool. And I just got a letter from steam saying they don't offer support for third party dev tools, so I have no choice but to bitch here.
I get the same issue.
Workshop is sucky at the moment, I guess we'll have to wait until garry updates it.
It's been another week with zero success. I've gone from mad to angry. When will I get some info that shows a fix is in the future?!
It's been another week with zero success. I've gone from mad to angry. When will I get some info that shows a fix is in the future?!
Yeah, I'm getting pretty sick of not being able to upload. I have over 1.65 GB of storage and can't upload to it.
Now check this out. I tried uploading the addon on my brother's steam name, and it uploaded just fine. Trying again on my name results in typical failure. If I've been banned, alright, that sucks. But tell us if we've been banned dammit. I've wasted several weeks trying to upload this stuff. I've got a ton of people sending me messages wondering when my addons are going to be online. I'm not going to make my brother maintain the addons for me, just as I shouldn't be expected to maintain his. The files upload, so it's not a problem with size or some other incompatibility. Goddammit who do I have to piss off to get some fucking answers?
Just post your addon on Garrysmod.org also make a post in the addon section or upload it to svn. And when the workshop will be fixed you will just have to add it to the Workshop.
Another week of no success. I wouldn't be so mad if I had a reason for nothing working.
I gave up and went to gamebanana
Yeah it's been happening all week for me, I want to release my awesomest update to WAC Community 3 but I can't :aaa:
I still have this error. It's been like this since the first week after the 13 merge update and I still can't upload my other content. Can we get a fix for this?
Garry said he's working on a new workshopper tool, no ETA though.
So I'm working on two separate command line tools. One will created a .gmad file from a specified directory, or extract a .gmad file into a specified directory. The other will upload a created gmad file to the workshop system. I decided to seperate these into different executables because I know a lot of people want to extract the addons, and I want to give them a nice way to do this. I'm trying to make them work on linux/osx/windows too.. but the uploader will require Steam to be running. So it makes sense to me to move the packing/extracting to a different program. I'm going to try to be as open as I can with these programs, so people can improve and make GUIs for them etc. Here's the WIP code for the gmad creator. https://github.com/garrynewman/gmad The bin files are here: http://svn.facepunchstudios.com/svn/gm/bin/ They don't do anything right now though. I just wanted to explain to you guys what I was planning.
I just realized that you only had 100mb of storage - that was probably breaking a lot of the uploads! I have upped it to 1gb now.
I just realized that you only had 100mb of storage - that was probably breaking a lot of the uploads! I have upped it to 1gb now.
So does that mean I can upload stuff that's 350mb now, or is that a max capacity for updating addons?
It's a complicated situation. The limit should still be 100mb per addon right now. It should be 200mb per addon after the next update.
Thanks Garry now soon we will be able to extract gmad files without third party programs.
