Hello Facepunch, im looking for a fairly well skilled coder to work with me on a project as its too large for me to handle on my own the project is a large roleplay gamemode based on the apocalypse, using the rp_apocalypse map, i have some of the coding done but i have not got the mentality to continue working on this huge task without someone to help me through it as i am rather disorganised in getting things done, i have several pages of documentation on ideas and how systems will work ect, along with items, the main design of the gamemode is to be serious, but more entertaining and ineresting with realistic crafting, mining and other such things, there will hopefully be scavanging ect. with some luck and help, this gamemode has great potential, Thanks for your time in reading this, Thomas 'nuttyboffin' Williamson. Most people aren't looking for an ideas guy without something in return.
did i miss type somthing or did you mis-read somthing, because im not just a ideas guy, infact im looking for someone to develop the ideas with me, and code with me, im all ready a competent coder and im looking for someone to work with me to build a cool gamemode and have some fun, host it and who knows, even make some profit together for it, not sure why im getting dumbs and stupid replys so... *shug* i hope the rest of facepunch isnt as retarded as you are acting, all im looking for is someone to work with me, not someone to do all the work ect, its just the sheer size of the project is abit much for one person to code alone...

Edit: M0dSe7en i see you, and i see your dumbs, mabye if you could contribute to the thread, or bugger off, mabye just tell me why rate dumb? im just looking for someone to work with me on a project thats all *sighs and bangs forehead at desk* Note to self: Stop feeding the trolls
mabye i should have posted more information at the start...
No one is going to help you if you don't say what the gamemode is about, and your skill as a coder. If you can demonstrate that, you may get someone to help you. However, the chance is low if you don't give the other person payment. Also, if I can give you one more bit of advice, make sure your passionate about that gamemode your planning to make. Nothings worse than getting bored half way through a gamemode you've wasted months on (from experience).
okay, instead of my usual want to be a prickhead to people who don't know what they are talking about, i may as well give you some honest information. This kind of thing happens rather rarely. a "coding partner" isn't usually something we all start out with. There is a way to do this, though. You should start up a new community and find yourself a community "co-owner" that can help you code. This way you both get players, and get a coding partner. just my two cents.

Learning LUA is alot harder than just learning how it fits together. It's actually making a finished product. Think up a game in your head that you would curb-stomp a baby to play, then throw every ounce of your soul against making it. Sorry to say, the only use i could find for a partner is using them as a personal encyclopedia for questions that you have (My friend hemirox feels my wrath sometimes daily on super complex questions.)
(My friend hemirox feels my wrath sometimes daily on super complex questions.)
Like what?
Think up a game in your head that you would curb-stomp a baby to play
:O Borderlands 3?
So by using the rating system I am a troll?
im more talking about the idiots who just rate stupid things but fail to contribute in any proper or useful way. i really hate that...
Too much in this thread, I'm leaving.
Like what?
Asking him to explain to me the usage of undocumented modules made for personal use by community owners.
So you wanna make some stupid Apoc RP clone, with ideas already done and tried, not to mention very stale ones that wouldn't be worth trying on a stupid openAura schema (that's most likely hl2rp copy-pasted to create some monstrosity of a schema with broken models and textures at every corner), and a horrible bland-ass map that requires launch arguments just to run... just to watch the 5 players that join to flid about? Sounds really awesome. Not to mention nobody would want to code that just to please you, some unknown random guy that'll probably ditch out after the first week of the community you put little to no effort into actually starting crumbles, so please don't try. Also this should go here.
Hi nutty, I like your idea a lot, so thanks for making this thread. I'll send you a PM so we can talk on Steam to further discuss development on this project.
Most people aren't looking for an ideas guy without something in return.
Ah perfect, another ignoramus who doesn't understand game development. I run a content development team and we need 'idea guys' - they are called game designers. They specialise in the matters of system design, storytelling, narrative direction and the rest of anything relating to concepts. The guy has simply made a thread so he can try to follow through with a project idea which could potentially turn into something great, yet you have to intervene and bash him down yet you have nothing to stand for yourself? At least give the guy some constructive criticism.

It's a fucking physics sandbox game and he's making a roleplaying gamemode. What is the point of the gamemode if everything is already thought out?
Spencer, i talked to you a while ago about this project on steam (im the guy who was chatting to you about tesla coils.) and you seemed to think it could work out well, and im not asking someone to code it *for* me, im planning on coding it with someone, if you read the text you would realise im programmer and want to work with someone to develop and build a decent gamemode that is better then the current rps out there, i hate OA and DarkRP's code with a passion its fairly badly done and just doesnt work for a decent gamemode that gets all people to play properly, i dont want to go and copy loads of shit, these ideas are taken admittedly from other gamemodes and then rebuilt to become more entertaining and grasping with a proper REALSITIC crafting system and such.

To be fair to the guy, it doesn't sound like most threads where he just has a 1 thought idea. He claims he can code to some degree and is willing to work with someone on the project as well as having multiple documents drafted for the game design. You know, people do work in groups for large projects ;)
