Hey you know what would be a great idea?
Porting the toybox from 12 to gmod 13.
It was so convenient and it was just fantastic but it's gone now and...well the workshop is just garrysmod.org on steam
Who is willing to take the challenge?

Who plans to pay for the storage?
Workshop does everything Toybox can do, faster, cleaner, and through steam.
That's the thing we need someone who happens to have a spare server "cough"surveys-maybe"cough" pr it could be payed by ads like in the top left hand corner there's an add for >game< or something similar like garrysmod.org sorta did

You have to restart servers or maps after downloading and it seems stuttery for some.
And besides this would be just for smaller files like a single npc or snpc or prop ect

1. Spare server? I think you would want something like Amazon S3 (like the old Toybox) for the file storage.
2. Stuttery? Elaborate. A large amount of addons require restarting anyway, and why is it so difficult to restart?
I have a server thats currently not being used much, so i would be willing to help out as i miss toybox.
Its a 32 slot garrysmod :)
jks :v: Its a Intel I5 with 16GB RAM and 2TB of storage power house with 100MB down and 80MB up

One server wouldn't cover toybox.
Well it could,
The project would start out small and I too miss it
If it got removed, I think there's a reason.
But I admit that due to my laziness, every time I was starting Garry's Mod, it was just to play on some toybox maps to play with toybox stuff, and install nothing other. And I was happy.
Now I have to move my ass. But I have more stuff that before now with Workshop.
And good luck mounting all the content you need automatically ;)
If you do that, I'll pay for your damned S3 bucket and cloudfront.
I liked that you could download models while ingame, but it rarely worked and when it did I found out that the download speed wasn't amazing. Garry should stick to the workshop.
It's called enhancing the past

True but if we fixed what Garry missed it could be great.
Alll we need is someone ready to donate a little time and another to donate a server for the whole thing
Toybox / Workshop , what's the fucking difference
Toybox / Workshop , what's the fucking difference
The difference is Toybox costs the maker tons of dollars and hardly works and sucks while workshop always works, is ran by Valve, and automatically updates and in useful.
Toybox is obsolete.
The only upside in toybox compared to workshop is the fact, that we didn't need to restart the map/game in order for the entity/weapon to work.
