So basically my server is having issues and addons are not working properly. I have many addons that are either half broken or won't work I have tried many solutions to try to determine the problem but can't. To fix this I believe the best solution is to re-install the server. I have many user's though and want to keep all the settings: ranks, teams, hours, ect. All of this should be in the data folder right? So I have two questions. Is re-installing the whole server the best way to fix problems or is there a better way? Secondly if I do re-install server and I update it why the current data file will I keep all the old settings like ranks, teams, hours, permissions? Thanks
the local data base (.db file in garrysmod/, fairly sure) the /data folder and /cfg
save those and it should be good
What exactly is the db(data base) folder. Whats in it.
In garrysmod/ you should see a file named sv.db. This file contains all of the SQLite information which is oftenly used in addons that store a player's information.
Make sure you force the install directory when you reinstall; mounted addons sometimes have trouble with capital letters, hyphens ( - ), etc...

If you modified the game-mode, that may be important, addons, cfg, and as mentioned earlier sv.db if you use it.
