Gmod screen overlays, where the heck do I find them?

I am currently trying to make my frame work and want to utilize the screen overlay function. However, I was just curious where do I find overlays to begin with? I am aiming for a contrast overlay or a black and white-ish overlay. Where do I find them or are screen overlays the wrong place to find them?
