Best way of using KEY_ enum keys?

Wanting to use KEY_ enum keys (opposed to IN_ enum keys) for various actions, but I've found it will be triggered even while typing or in the esc menu. What's the best way of handling this?

A good way to check if the player is in game is to check if [url]http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/gui/MouseX[/url] and MouseY are 0,0 and check if gui.IsGameUIVisible
