Does anyone know if there's a way to enable the classic RTT shadows on a model? RTT shadows are this: I've got a shot like this with vehicles driving around etc. and the lack of shadows really really stands out :(

But there was a shot in Meet The Soldier (the head shots, heh heh), that had shadows but no light in the anim set.
The light in MTSoldier was done with a flashlight instead of being added in by SFM as an animation set. It's still just a projectedtexture, and unfortunately doesn't help.
Doesn't the map itself need to be setup to cast shadows like that? Also you can make a gigantic light and lower it's shadowmap size to get similar shadows.

I've never seen shadows like that on a map in TF2.

well, if your actors that need the rtt shadows are puppets, you cant give it to them without using lights in the movie logic. I recall in the 2007 leak you could do some pretty edgy things in the element viewer when it came to game and movie logic mixing. Might wanna poke around in there. Alternativly, you might be able to get away with putting npcs in the map assuming you are just lighting background characters. But that could turn into a headache-inducing mess.
how about recording yourself for 1 second of the clip. add yourself in the animation editor remove the weapons and view model. and import ref sequence. i have not tried it but that may work.
can you even read
it is not really a puppet if you recored yourself. and removed the animations.
it is not really a puppet if you recored yourself. and removed the animations.
I see what he is saying. The problem with that is, when you record yourself, it's movie logic still.
well that sucks. i was hoping it would stay game logic.
Wow; how you get that letter box grid?
It's an IA88 overlay with the alpha set to match a 2,4:1 aspect ratio
I hope there's a solution to this, I've been having this problem myself.
This is offtopic but that map looks nice and custom. Did you make it, Max?
yes
yes
You're a god. You animate like a pro. You map like a pro. I respect your work.
