I've seen 2 threads already and i still couldn't find a solution to my problem, also no one answered in the F.A.Q thread and for that im creating this one.
Anyone experiencing/ed this and has anything useful to share which will help resolve the problem please do tell.
If it's not hardware based then what is the cause? I would really like to know because this has a major influence on my work, and some people may be doing this just for entertainment, but i am doing this to make a portofolio, so any help is appreciated
Specs.

Map being used.
What you do when it lags.
WE NEED MORE INFO!!!
My apologies.
Specs are:
Win 7
Nvidia 9500gt
3.2gh p(r) intel dual core
Monitor size(may be irrelevant) 1600x900
When i'm moving the cameras in the viewport or doing anything in it for that matter , it is very slow,
When im trying to lipsync the playback on the timeline is also slow as hell
Map?
any tbh.
i have tried over 4 different maps and lag is present in all of them.
c2fort, badlands,can't remember the other 2
try these
teleport the player to the camera and go into game mode, sometimes that fixes lag for me, also try right-clicking on the viewport and disabling progressive refinement, go into render settings and turn everything off until you render. that might give you a few more frames.
these make my viewport run at like 30 fps and i'm using integrated graphics so chances are it will help you too.

thanks, will try the the others, but as for the teleport player to camera i use the create new model thingy from the animation tab, so i don't know how you work that out

you don't need to record or use the player in the scene, just sometimes it reduces lag when the player is in the map and not in the void or something. the player won't be visible in the shots.
okay i tried turning off the render settings and i see big improvements in fps, but it could do better.
Still many thanks for these as it will improve my work
Also, something that happens when you record a bunch of takes without disabling some of the capture settings is that you will develop lag from recording the position of everything every time.
When done recording and putting the camera in place, right click the viewport, go to delete, and hit delete models outside of camera frustum. This will remove all the extraneous lag causing models, but be careful, because it could also delete models that you do want, especially if the camera is moving, or has things moving in and out of view.
OMFG! I have same pc specs and have same problem, few days ago i made topic with same problem, but nobody told me to turn off everything in render settings, now i have 25 fps!! WOOHOO, god bless you guys :) Especially DatHarry
I was quitting SFM because of lag :DDD
