Subscribing to certain workshop items will cause crashes, thus unable to "obtain" the files.
I'm pretty sure this issue is not exclusive to me, but as with most problems with Source Filmmaker, they always went unsolved.

Reproduction of the bug is simple:
1) Subscribe to an item in Steam Workshop
2) Launch Source Filmmaker
3) Click OK when "Download New Workshop Files" appear.
4) Enjoy simultaneous SFM and Steam crashes.
Solutions attempted:
1) Unsubscribe and resubscribe
2) Reinstall SFM.
3) High priority - Always auto-update this application ASAP.
Possible cause:
Item's file size being too huge, as those containing only a single model are usually unaffected.

I would greatly appreciate any sort of trial and error to help remedy this problem.
I subscribed to the badasses and they work for me, must be you.
I suspect that it has more to do with Steam itself than SFM.
Either way, I wish to rid this issue once and for all because it was preventing me from getting some major contents from the workshop.
You probably already did this but have you tried reinstalling and validating files? If yes, try searching up the problem for Gmod Workshop, maybe it happens there as well and look for a fix.
