Hello.
I've recently just gotten into SFM and, so far, I'm really enjoying it. However, I've come across a few unfortunate things which really hamper my progress to make projects. I'll cut to the chase. Right now I'm just using SFM to make still life shots and some models are working flawlessly, models from the SFM workshop. But there are lots more models for Gmod which, when I import them into SFM, they behave differently and the limbs don't bend.
(Left is a working model, right is an imported model. I did the same thing to each)

I'm looking to either
A. fix the 'broken' models that I have (quite a few)
or B. learn how to port models into SFM myself (depending on how difficult that actually is).
If somebody is willing to teach me a few things (and possibly voice chat?) that would be very much appreciated and I will find a way to repay you.
NOTE: I do have working models which were imported from Gmod so I suppose it was a method of choice with the person porting the model.
It's a matter of whether or not they're compatible with the valve IK rigs, and moreover, rigged on the Valve skeleton. Those that aren't have to be animated with forward kinematics (bending the child bone before the parent, i.e. the upper arm before the wrist and finally the hand.) I've written IK rigs for a few models, but I don't really distribute them since they're on the glitchy side. Look on the Valve Developer Wiki on tutorials regarding custom IK rigging.
What are you doing to shown models? Are you applying rigs? copying animations over? Different things have different conclusions. We can only show you so much with so little shown.
