• TAKING REQUESTS FOR SFM MODELS
    160 replies, posted
Hi. Name's Alan and I'm an amateur 3d modeler with big ambitions to work as a professional one day. Now I believe that the best way to get good at something is by a lot of practice with it. That's why up to about the end of September I'll be taking requests on 3d models for the Source Filmmaker and all other for free. I've been modeling for about a year now, and got to a position where I can finally share my works. If you want to see them CLICK HERE. If you're interested fell free to post it here and/or mail me at aln447@gmail.com Now some quickie rules: - I can pretty much take any sort of a request, but note that the more complicated ones may take more time. - Every model made will be posted here and on my blog. - There are no deadlines here. I'll try my best to make the models as fast as possible, but it's not like I'm some kind of a model making machine hope you'll understand. - Not really a rule, but it would be really nice to get credited in the final work. TL;DR: I make models. Want some? Tell me here. It's free. ps. Not doing ports, there are threads for this stuff...

A generic door in TF2 style/size? [img_thumb]http://extremehowto.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Steel-doors-home-security-systems.jpg[/img_thumb]
a dildo
Go to digitalero.
Do you only make items, or animals/humanoids as well?
A generic door in TF2 style/size? [img_thumb]http://extremehowto.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Steel-doors-home-security-systems.jpg[/img_thumb]
You mean just a regular, rigged door, tf2 style? Bad English here, sorry. If I'm correct than sure. I'll make it tomorrow. Might go longer if errors occur. Got ideas for some details? [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
Do you only make items, or animals/humanoids as well?
I can try, but this might take longer because I'm no very experienced in it (made only like three heads), and because those things are hard to get working with source.
A rigged bulldozer please :v:
Would you be willing to make TF2-styled food/junk items from Half-Life 2? The current ones have low-quality textures and don't fit in with the TF2 art style. If you could make their textures more "cartoony" and possibly make them slightly bigger, I would be very happy.
An umbrella. If this one is too hard, try make a violin with bow ?
A German Shepherd dog with that Team Fortress 2 cartoon feel to it.
Okay. Here's my current schedule: QUICK: 1. The Generic TF2 Door for Razi The Red - will start today. 2. TF2 Food for Tangerine 3. Umbrella for Sync. (not hard, but thee might be problems with the flexes) 4. Batarangs and Wolverine hair for Aaron MORE COMPLEX: 4. A rigged bulldozer for BART! 5. "A German Shepherd dog with that Team Fortress 2 cartoon feel to it. " for TheAlkaline
A lot of these look really high poly, which is okay for SFM, but not game design in general. What's the polycount for some of those guitars? The textures also look a little bland. All in all though you're doing well for someone starting out. If you're looking for a place to post and get technical/design feedback on your works in progress, we have a thread for that. If at all possible, a news or studio camera, on tripod with tiltable (up/down) and pannable (left right) head. Something like this: [t]http://www.hdwarrior.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Canon-SZ-27-AF.jpg[/t]

http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250308
The guitar models were assets for sfm videos where, so I don't worry about the polycount here. Tho I don't go crazy with smoothing things. The bass and the drum kit made an appearance here . But if I ever get to make a game asset, I believe to not have much problem making good low poly models. As for the textures, I'm doing my best here and trying to improve them every model I make, bare with me here.
Could you try to make the map room floor from Raiders of the Lost ark? [t]http://onter.net/cinema/jones_a.jpg[/t] and maybe the Staff of Ra? [t]http://www.virginmedia.com/images/1indy-idol-staff-of-ra.jpg[/t] That could really help me for a future poster I'm working on! :D

I was talking about the small map on the floor, it could be mostly a model more so then a map. But if not, I understand. :)
how 'bout a mic like this?
Dude, I want that Steampunk guitar. It looks rad as hell. If you're having any issues compiling for Source Filmmaker, I'd be more than willing to help you out with it. Reason I bring it up is in that post you said that you tried to "export it into the source engine but it’s not as easy as it seems." Don't hesitate to toss me a message if you have some questions about getting a model into SFM.
How about a rigged Jack-In-The-Box model? I always thought those would be useful in SFM for some reason.
do you think are more usefull 8 classes in suits or Blutarch and Redmond Mann (and maybe Grey Mann and Saxton Hale HD) models? [t]http://media.steampowered.com/apps/tf2/bloodbrothers/images/comic/1024x768/007.jpg[/t] [t]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/a/a3/Saxton_Hale_Portrait.png[/t]

The generic door. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/69842270/door.jpeg[/t] The rig is designed for opening the door left or right. The way for that are two bones on each corner. The model was made easy to reskin so feel free to do so. For the scale, it matches the scout. DOWNLOAD
make your face in SFM
Insurrectionist(s) from Halo perhaps?
Insurrectionist(s) from Halo perhaps?
Weren't they ported by someone already?
Here is a suggestion if you are willing to have something more complex in your to do list. Gray Mann. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Vk2Gw3F.png[/t]
Here is a suggestion if you are willing to have something more complex in your to do list. Gray Mann. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Vk2Gw3F.png[/t]
I had it on my list before I even made this post :P Just give me time. I first want to get as much skill as I can on the smaller models and than make the big ones awesome.
Weren't they ported by someone already?
Nah; they have however, had normal Halo 3 Marines re-textured to be red in a faint attempt to mimic them.
Would be cool if you could model celebrities, like Penn Jillette, Justin Bieber, Angelina Jolie or anyone else you would like to make. I don't want to be that guy, but there might be a legal problem with that. But basically all you have to do is model the face and add a fitting premade body type, right? Offtopic: I don't know if you can do this, but a IK rig script for MMD models would be nice and I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it. Obviously, one has still to port the MMD models to the Source Engine, but that should be manageable, even for me (according to the Tutorials I've seen). Checked out you work, it's great!
I was wondering if I could get a Cookie Monster one. I'm making a poster for my best freind and it would be very much appreciated if I could get it made.
