This is a function that I used quite often on oldpunch so I'd love it to make a comeback.
The idea is that you hold down the thread icon for a small amount of time (eg. 1-2s) and the thread regains its unread status (with some subtle transition perhaps)
Pros:
Doesn't clutter the page with more buttons (good for mobile view)
Hard to trigger accidentally
Cons:
Not intuitive (this could be helped with changing the hover text of the thread icons (which is redundant imo) to something like "hold to unread")
Don't know how feasible this is, but I guess it wont hurt asking.
Not a bad idea to be honest, if you spend more than a day away from FP you could come back and your favourite thread could have like 400+ unread posts, nobody has time to catch up on that. So instead of going through the pages one by one, that would make it easier.
No to your interface idea (that's how you right click on mobile), but yes to bringing mark unread back.
Isn't it possible to disable the mobile right click menu on certain elements?
