Hello everybody,i am in need of help because i don't know what parts for PC i should buy to run Garry's mod smoothly and fast. I have not buyed Garry's mod yet so that is why i want to know what gadgets my PC should have. -I need at least 20fps minimum for Garry's mod -Pieces and gadgets should be available to buy or obtain from any country (i live in Croatia Europe)
I made a pc which will run it at 60 fps easily https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qh9XTH There is no case, monitor or OS so you can choose them
while it is a good list, it could be optimized to save some money. for example: does he really need the K version of the cpu if he's not going to overclock? There is also probably a cheaper motherboard. does he really need 750W psu? does the cpu come with a cooler, if so, he probably does not need the aftermarket cooler
I have created a new list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6XjszM There is no CPU because it doesn't have it listed but here is a few eBay listings for it Intel Xeon X3470 2.93Ghz 8MB 3.6Ghz quad SLBJH LGA1156 BX80605X3.. The reason it's so cheap is when new Xeon processors come out all companies upgrade, and sell the cpus at a fraction of the cost, so it has really good price to performance.
A quantum computer is the only thing to settle for if you want to get a whopping 30 fps
My first computer I had ever owned was a work laptop. I think it was about 300-400 dollars and Garry's Mod ran very well for me at the time. So really in my opinion it doesn't really matter what computer you have :P
None , Gmod is running on a engine that is 14 years old , which is only 32 - bit
I remember being in your shoes many years ago, those were simpler times back then. I started back in 2011 with a Phenom II x2, 4GB of RAM, and a 550ti. If you just want to run basic source games such as Garry's Mod and what not, you may be able to go back a few gens to get a good cheap build. If you can go with more recent stuff however I would encourage you to do so. Here's a quick Ryzen build that would actually work reasonably well with modern games too https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RLQY4C
Thank you everybody for your responses! You helped me alot
It really depends on what you are going to do on GMod. If you plan to stick with singleplayer sandbox with less than 10 addons, pretty much any modern laptop or PC will do. If you plan to join servers with 100+ addons and 50+ players I recommend you get a CPU with a high clock speed (4GHz+) and an SSD to install your game on. Also get sufficient RAM but 8GB will probably do.
Even better , Why does FPS matter in GMod anyway. All you really need is it to be playable
