Hi,
I'm trying to run nav_generate on my public server (hosted one) in order to generate the nav for rp_rockford_v2b, but when I type it nav_generate in my console it doesnt do anything, i'm pretty new to Nextbot and i don't know what to do really...
Can someone help me please ?
Thanks in advance.
I believe you have to do it in single-player or listen multi-player.
sv_cheats must be set to 1 in order to use the command.
Is there any reason you need to do this in multiplayer? You can generate a navmesh locally in singleplayer/local server then upload it to your server instead.
Thanks for the answers, i enabled sv_cheats on my multiplayer server and it did nothing more. I have no reason to do it in multiplayer but i was wondering if it was possible. If i do it in singleplayer where can i get the .nav and where should i upload it after ? Thanks in advance
Are you doing the nav_generate in the server console because I have done it tones of times on my server with all sorts of maps and it works fine.
It'll be located in your \garrysmod\garrysmod\maps\ folder. For instance gm_construct's nav file can be found as "gm_construct.nav"
You need to give the system a few walkable positions for the generation process to start.
You should never use the command on a live server because it will lag your server to fucking shit for a long time.
You should make a nav mesh in single player, test it properly with nav_Edit 1 or using my Easy Navmesh Tool and then upload it to the server. This needs to be done only once. The nav file will be found in your maps folder, which you would've known if you'd just do a search.
Thanks, rtm516 yes i'm doing in the web console, i'm hosted by GMCHosting, but why i type it in nothing is happening AT ALL... I think i will just generate it in singleplayer
