I think some people would appreciate the little privacy they can get these days. Plus one might respond entirely biased on where someone posts. I don't see how this is any useful in general other than discrimination and useless clutter.
Might even save a few CPU cycles not trying to deal with half working/correct GeoIP databases.

In addition to the country name it should also display your age, phone number, parents name, penis size, how much money you have on your bank account etc...
I'm not trying to hide anything, if so I would probably use a proxy instead of asking nicely. Personally I think it should be up to the user on how much information he is willing to expose to the public, simple as that.

And you consider a display of your country to be information exposed to the public? OldPunch had Flagdog and nobody cried about that. What's the issue now? Unless you plan on pretending to be posting from a different nation, I don't see how displaying your nation on your post is exposing anything beyond which geographical land mass you are located in at time of posting. Simple as that.

For real though, the poster's country quite often gives a lot of context to the post itself, I find it really useful. Also you don't have to preface posts with your country if thats relevant so thats a plus.
And I've never seen it abused on FP by being prejudiced or discriminative against posters based on their country, thankfully this community seems to know better.
Hmm on one hand i get that people might like to have as much privacy as possible, but on the other hand I do enjoy having the ability to instantly identify posters from Brazil so that I can quickly disregard anything they say. Tough decision...
That is exactly what it is, I never agreed to show that information about me, alias exposure. And if I plan on pretending I will use proxies like I said before. Also theres General Data Protection Regulation

They don't say anything about what happens to your data and you can't just make up your own rules that work above the law, that's not how reality works. I mean strictly speaking England is no longer part of EU so there is that.

I don't have it at 18, nor would it make sense that it's level-based. Pretty sure ... just added the option dialogue with JS and is passing it off as implemented by default.
