Hey, I've played since legacy and I think that there's untapped potential (relative to guns) using the component system. While I believe that rust has quite well done systems for gun models and their use/modification in-game it could definitely be improved; I was chatting with two friends of mine as we played rust one afternoon and I brought up this point,"why can't we change our firearms from their base versions, adding attachments is nice and all, but why not be able to lengthen the barrel of my revolver and add a stock to create an eight shot carbine type weapon, or increase magazine capacity of a rifle with springs and sheet metal say." And then I arrived at the thread with some basic ideas for modification.
For example:
revolver:
-extended barrel=10 scrap+2 pipes+some sort of adhesive*
-stock=250 wood+1 spring+ 1 pipe
*perhaps add another tier of barrel extension but only enable it if the weapon already has a stock to balance it.
This is just a half-baked idea I had, but any feedback as to how possible any of this would be given the current logistics of the game would be appreciated, thanks for reading! -Keets
