This is happening after the new upkeep update & its so annoying...

They warned about that, and there will be no change to that.
It's to prevent wall-stacking. If you read the update posts, and did some research on youtube, you would know this before you joined the server and have to experience it for yourself.
The think you are showing above is how rust wants it. It is because on the right there is a proper space to exactly fit a triangle foundation, but on the left that gab is smaller. If they did not changed this, it would still be possible to place 1 triangle down in the middle of square bace to give TC more protection.
Doubble wall placing and stacking was a verry common exploit that everybody used, but Rust never wanted this, so they changed it. I understand that your thinking that because it was possible for so long, that it was just how they intended it, but the build feature is one of the most complicated things of all things in rust, it affects people even more than when they change the ammount of guns you find for example.
I'm also more a builder than a fighter, I knew this was comming, and it's good! The only thing thats annoying is the vanilla upkeep costs, but thank god they made it an optional vallue for server owners, and I'm having my own servers
