I have been trying for hours now to port forward so my server is available and nothing works, I can join it on lan though. I'm using a netgear router that uses Netgear Genie. I don't even know which ip is for my server, Or what port to do. Please help!
What OS is your server hosted on?
First, you need to use your IPV4 address that's the IP you portfoward in your router config site, then once you have figured out what that you you must look up what your public IP is do not worry these are not saved record so nobody will be able to access them accept for you and the people connect to your network, one you found your public IP address you need to paste said IP address into the google search it will take you to a page that will then ask you for a username and a password this information will be stored on the back of your router so if you are even allowed to get close to your router get that info from it. Next, once you have the username & password enter that information into the routers main website it will log you in then you must proceed now I forgot how netgear routing works but If I am correct you need an access key which is also on your router you need to look for a specific page I will give you a link to a video that can help you from this point on.
I'm using Windows 10 64 Bit Business.
Type ipconfig in cmd and use the IPV4 address of the active network adapter for port forwarding. These are the ports you should forward.
