So I paid for a month for a website, the easy part is out of the way, other then spending money and using a template I have no sweet clue how to do things, I can work my way around dreamweaver easily enough and can come up with my own index and other pages, but I have no idea how to actually upload them to my website and use them in place of the template shit.
i'm using hosting24.com and they have cpanel for dealing with everything, they also have a website builder, but that isn't going to get me anywhere, any help is great, i'm completely handicapped when it comes to this part of the process.
in summary I just need to know how to get the files I made in dreamweaver to the host and hosted.
FTP
FileZilla is fantastic, although this basically comes down to personal opinion.
Also, you really shouldn't use Dreamweaver's design mode to create your website. It creates shitty and bloated markup. You'll learn more and eventually produce much better stuff if you learn to code it by hand
You suppose to get your FTP information in the email.
With that information (host and password) you can connect to your FTP.
In order to do that, you can download FileZilla, which is made for exactly what you need.
Ninja'd
If you're at the very start messing around with Dreamweaver and templates is ok, but you should really start learning some proper HTML and CSS. If you keep on using Dreamweaver you'll regret it later.
I can't seem to connect to the server, what should I be looking for to put in the server address?

Use JustHost.

I have a lifetime account for free with them that I got when I 'quit' using them.
well I already paid for it and there isn't an issue so far, just on my end of not knowing what i'm doing

:downs: is all I can offer.
Good luck with them.
used helpdesk, those mofuckas helpful, sometimes.
I suggest asking on a forum dedicated to Programming and web design, like this one. I wouldnt use this section as there are some right egotistical pricks with superiority complexes in here. Good luck anyhow.

I'd say Facepunch is adequate for most questions on Web Development, as this forum has many intelligent and skilled people. Most of the replies in this section will point you in the right direction, without babying you through the process. Most people would call it bad advise, but it will, in fact, help them learn better.

I'm going to have to disagree. Rsync over SSH is the best thing to have ever happened in the history of mankind.

Except he's using Hosting 24, which don't grant SSH access.

Then he picked a terrible host.
I'd blow my brains out before using Ftp for frequent uploading.

I agree with the terrible host part, but sorry but that anti-FTP extremity is fucking ridiculous.

If you'd just leave they'd all be gone.
We should all report chris's post for Flaming/Trolling. It's homophobic.
That's not cool. :v:
