Hello Everybody
I'm sending out a message in distress if you would. For the past 4 months I've motivated ,and pushed my self to learn lua. I've tried, and tried, and tried! Wiki after wiki page. I try to grasp the concept. I try so hard, but I can't. I've tried to contact lua coders via steam, face punch, code hire, and much much more. Everyone turning me down. I've owned 3 DARKRP SERVERS. Wanting to custom code them. Yet I just give up on each one I try to code. You know? I don't want to have to use other peoples material. I don't want to get frustrated when a script doesn't work.
All I'm asking is that someone help me. It doesn't have to be personal help, but for someone to show me the path I need to take to learn the basic, and advances of lua.
Thats all really.

Here's something I wrote in another thread:
I always used the language reference, but it's probably unwise to use it if you don't know any programming language to start with.
Maybe you can find something in the official books section, but I can't recommend you anything specific.
We know who you are. Don't bother signing posts.
Do you now?

Arghh! Right in my identity!
Learn C#, it will help you much to learn lua, start by editing C# projects you like, i started from MCForge which is a minecraft classic hosting software.

or just
learn lua?
Keep trying and trying and suddenly you'll realise you can code.
It can take a couple months, it can take a year.
There's no secret, just persistence.
Reading won't help you as much as actually trying to make a project will. Create a project (Maybe a script that draws a "VIP" tag above a player's head in rainbow colors), and then try to code it. If you can't figure out how to do part of what you want, google and see if someone has already asked that question and use their answer. If you want to find a function that does something, look for it on the wiki. If you can't find it, ask in the developer's section or ask someone you know who is good at coding (just add someone from the developer's section and tell them you just added them so you could ask questions about lua if you had any later down the line). Hell, pm me for my steam account and I'll be a reference for you. Looking at and use bits from other people's code is a good way to learn. In my opinion, this is a fine tactic for learning a programming language. It helps you see what other programmers are doing so you can begin to get a grasp of your language, and you are making neat projects while still learning. Eventually, you get a good enough idea of how to use your language to the point where you can code things yourself without any problems.
If you want, you can send me a pm. I am currently learning Lua mostly for Gmod. we could talk on steam etc.
