Hi there, I was wondering if there was anybody else from the UK studying AS or A2 computing? If so, i'm interested to know what kind of projects you're doing, and what languages you are coding them in. For my A2 project, i'm working on a fully fledged networked betting shop kiosk system so that people are able to place bets on horse races. I'm coding it in C# with an SQLite database, and so far have set up a user account / registration system.
I made this last year. This is like the millionth time I've posted this but oh well.

What grade did you get on that just out of interest?

I know what you mean, requires a stupid amount of documentation to get a high grade. Got a B last year in my AS project with around 50 pages :/
I'm doing my A2 stuff right now. We had to do the multimedia unit which means Flash and me being the idealess person I am have made a Gmod promotional thing. I'm going to post it here when it's all finished so that I can get some feedback. It is awful though. I would love to have been able to do something with C++ or something similar.
I'm doing A2 project now. Making an educational physics program. It's way too much work...
I'm working on my AS right now, Have to create a system for creating/amending quotes for coach hire. So much writing involved (Plus we have to use Visual Basic, I mean seriously, what the Christ)

This year, for A2, it's either ASP or VB.NET. And we're practically forced into doing ASP.
In my class, there were about 30 people at AS. Everyone found it hard and dropped it for A2 so it was just me and my friend. My friend is as good if not better at programming than me. So my teacher (who really knows his shit) let us use whatever we wanted. My friend made a robot puzzle game where you give the robot a series of instructions, he used the C# GDI API. I made my roller coaster sim using C++ and SFML.
In my class there are 5 other people and we are forced to use VB. I'm making a logic gate simulator but the user is my teacher and so it has to be a teaching aid and have a load of bullshit features
I got a B in that project. I got an A for it because it was so simple to write up afterwards. The more complicated the project you choose to do the harder it's going to be in the long run, even if you think it'll get you a higher grade (which it won't).
