Hey there, I'm currently a student that has an ambition for practically anything computers, could some of you that've already learn't Java point me in the direction and give me some tutorials, or even how you learn't java.

Sorry I didn't specify, I want to learn Javascript.
Depends on what your target is:
- Web development (websites/ webapplication) : Go for HTML, CSS and Javascript but you should go to the web dev subforum.
- Desktop development: Java/ C#/ C++
Well, when I get out of school, I plan on going to university to do game design, So I assume I should at-least start at Java? Unless you have a better language to start on.
I started with C# and got Java afterwards, they have a similar syntax.
You can create games easier with C# using Unity3d but i suggest your learn the language and basics first before you begin.
I found C# to be easier because in my opinion Visual Studio is one of the best IDE's and some nifty features that java doesn't have, but Java is easier (and sometimes, better) for platform independent applications (because C# is mainly for Windows).

In straya (so QANTM or a Real University(tm) with a rushed games degree), if you have ANY programming experience before enrolling you'll have a considerable head-start, though consider that they generally expect you to have none. So: learn anything (start with javascript vs. java though), uncle Google will show you the way, assume everything is an opinion, trust no one, shoot first, etc. The end.
While I'm here: Nobody cares about your game degree (particularly game design) but you can make useful contacts while studying. Make games if you want people to see that you know how to make games.

Just a note in case it's not clear so far: Java and JavaScript are [U]completely[/U] different languages that look slightly similar when written out.
You can use both to make games, Java is often used at University too.
JavaScript runs in the browser and is still very current (even getting stronger) while Java becomes worse and worse on private PCs (security holes, bundled adware...).
Both are pretty awful for offline games due to the way their default runtimes work - though with JavaScript you can forgo the browser runtime and target .NET or Unity which runs a lot faster. (The limit is not how easy it is to make a game but the upper ceiling on what you can do.)
The API is completely different so it's like learning 3/4 of a new language if you switch between web and not-HTML5 offline. (Please don't write HTML(5) apps for offline use, they are terrible resource hogs.)
JavaScript and Java target different problems, learning JavaScript is for example very useful while Java can be replaced by (the in most people here's opinion much better) C# almost everywhere if you're in charge. (Exception: Android development. You should look into C++ if you want to write complicated games for that though since the Java runtime is a bit slow there too.)
Game design isn't really that much involved with programming them though afaik, so while it helps a lot to know programming most of what you'll do is probably number crunching on the mechanics (depending on the genre) and coordinating other people to implement it.
lua is a really good entry point. either check out garrysmod or [URL="http://www.love2d.org/"]love2d[/URL], they're both good places to start learning programming practices
If you want to learn game design and plan on going to school for it, you'll probably be forced to learn Java. Might be worth it to start that first, so you can develop bad habits early on. :v:
