I need more buttons for my binds and the only 2 things i've found online are way too expensive. Could i edit the drivers of a basic external numpad to use as extra buttons?
You should probably just use something like AutoHotKey.

No i want more buttons and i don't need autogotkey to use already existing buttons

drivers can't create hardware out of thin air

They can for things like serial ports, virtual drives and probably a few other things.

I wanna buy hardware and edit the drivers

In that case I'd say get a USB-Keyboard since that has many buttons and is cheap, but I seriously doubt that editing the driver would be easy.

do you know what hardware is
[editline]21st April 2014[/editline]
like, I can make an entire virtual machine but that doesn't make it hardware

what use does that do
there are no buttons you can add by editing the drivers that you can't through autohotkey

yes that's called software
i guess he is confused ...

Jesus fucking christ if i buy an external numpad it's gonna do the exact same shit as the numpad i already have so i wanna edit the drivers so it does different shit

yeah except you can apparently use this to specify which HID you're listening for.

it was like 5 seconds on google, man. You don't need to modify drivers so long as the external numpad is registered as a different HID.

yes i'm sure the only solution is reverse engineering the drivers so you can have a few extra buttons instead of using autohotkey
and don't act so indignant, you barely explained yourself so you can't expect us to know what you're talking about

Rewrite/reverse engineer windows, call it Bullshit, so you can use a few more keys.
I'm out of here.

Of course it isn't real hardware because it's all implemented in software, but in the userspace, that stuff behaves and looks like real hardware.

Like what?
