I'm starting a project called Nostalgic Networks. Basically it's going to be a website, where you'll be able to stream nostalgic shows from the past. All the shows people hate and love. Everything from Ed Edd 'n Eddy to Pokémon, the original looney toons, everything we can get together. Things that I have already; 1x Dedicated server for the website 1x Domain, http://nostalgicnetworks.tv Decent PHP programming Concept design by Wheeze I'm getting a storage VPS for hosting episodes, but at first it'll be hosted on the same server as the website. (It's only got 300GB of storage left) I could easily program and make it myself, however I'd rather have an ideas guy, or even an experienced programmer, to guide me or support me through this project of mine. Also note that at first, this will be a non-profitable project. No commercials, ads, payments or anything. Once completely done, I'll look into setting up a way to purchase an account through paypal, to help paying for the server / sharing amongst the people who helped create the project.
Enjoy getting sued.
Enjoy getting sued.
It's not illegal to host material which copyright has ran out.
1x Domain, http://nostalgicnetworks.tv
Might want to get a real domain.
Might want to get a real domain.
And since when wasn't a .tv a real domain?
You better wait another 100 or so years before trying to make this website.
I had actually looked for that law for years, and though the copyright ran out after 10 years or so. :saddowns:
It's not illegal to host material which copyright has ran out.
Nope course it isnt, you can technically sell non-copyright material and keep the profit However all the material that you have mentioned (and will probably have on your site) is still copyrighted and (according to british law) will be for years to come
and though the copyright ran out after 10 years or so. :saddowns:
It wouldn't matter, all the content is copyrighted to it's creator / distributor ( the network it's aired on ), and the network has a copyright for all their work. Just because it is no longer aired doesn't mean it's not still copyrighted by the network.
I'm sure there excists a law of some sorth that'll allow me to sneak past the copyright laws.
There isn't, if someone from the network find out and wants your site down, it will be down. I do like these old shows however, so if you're doing it anyway I'll probably watch some old shit.
http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/video/
Can't view it because I'm not american. Same goes to anything else TV related.
Can't view it because I'm not american. Same goes to anything else TV related.
Proxy dat shit.
Not everyone can just proxy it, hence why the idea of this project started. I could of cors just block any IP's from outside of europe, but would be kinda silly.
Saw above, plan still stands however, and I'm sure there excists a law of some sorth that'll allow me to sneak past the copyright laws.
The only way around copyright laws is hosting only 30 seconds of an episode. You could try to contact Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney, and whatever other networks you want to try hosting content of, and see if they will grant you permission in return for some profit per view of a video. I highly doubt they'll give you this permission because the site is very new, and hasn't really made an impression yet. They would more likely to give sites like Hulu this kind of permission.

However they might still be able to sue you just not take down the site.
