I am interested in learning C++ for game design / programming. Where do I begin though? I have installed Microsoft VBS and I have seen a few online tutorials and guides for beginners.
To any of you who are talented in programming / can actually make a game, please let me know where you began.
I read the sticky.
And learned C++ from the books mentioned there.
I did read the sticky, I wasn't sure if there was some more FP user advice.

Nothing is as good as an old fashion book.

I disagree, tuition is far better.
I learnt far more from the 3 years I spent in University than I did "self-teaching" myself programming over the previous 9 years. I'm not saying that the self-teaching was a waste mind, I wouldn't have progressed in the way that I did at University if it wasn't for my self-taught knowledge of compiler errors, general syntax and knowing where to find information I didn't know.

That's so non-programmerish.
I really don't like structured education. All of the things I have in depth knowledge on are things I taught myself. This degree in computer science is a means to an end, which basically means I'm doing it for the piece of paper which will get me a job. I got 94% in the computer organisation semester 1 exam based almost entirely on things I already knew, I didn't take any notes throughout the unit and came 2nd out of 153 students.
Tuition is useless in comparison to self teaching if you have the correct mindset to self teach yourself properly.
A book is the perfect teacher. Programming is just like learning a spoken language, much more productive if you do it your way.
Well I went to the library and picked up what sounds like a beginner book- "Beginning Programming for Dummies". It teaches BASIC and C++ basic commands and rules. Then I imagine that I can move up to some more narrow topics dedicated to just C++.

Spanish: And thus it is better to teach yourself.
Programming book: The concepts will be useful, like variables and stuff. Don't go crazy on it because the chances are it's not exactly good practice if it's a mish mash of BASIC and C++. I've heard Accelerated C++ is a good book.

Is that an online book ? cause... http://www.acceleratedcpp.com/ ??
I don't see a buy link or something there...if its online that will be awesome because I doubt It will be easy finding it were I live... (BTW I got this link from the sticky )
Any good books that I could download (eBook)? I got one called like "C++ How To Program (5th Ed)" which I haven't looked through and probably won't until I've done the C++ portion of this For Dummies book.
