Hi there, I know I should have probably posted this in general discussion but I feel that you guys could probably use it more. DreamSpark is a site where students can get a variety of software for free including - Various versions of visual studio (2010 Ultimate, 2008 pro, 2005 pro) Server operating systems (Server 2008 std, server 2003) Free 1 year XNA creators club subscription. To sign up, all you need is a .edu email (or a local variant such as .edu.uk, edu.nl etc). https://www.dreamspark.com/ Enjoy :D
Most of the people here probably know this already.

Well, if you already know about it then don't complain. This is for people who don't already know about it.
Actually didn't know about it. Awesome.
This is pretty handy, I got Visual Studio 2008 and XNA Game Studio from there. That combined with my University Mircosoft ELMS account I pretty much get every Microsoft Product I want free :P
I'm in high school and we don't have an activation code yet. I emailed Microsoft and they sent me back a one-time key! Free year of XNA Creators!

I tried to get my IT teacher to set me up with Dreamspark but he just decided to complain that the site didn't zoom properly in IE6 instead...
Ie6!???
I'm in high school and we don't have an activation code yet. I emailed Microsoft and they sent me back a one-time key! Free year of XNA Creators!
I was at my friends house and posted this. I believe that this was the correct link. I just said what school I was from and the sent me a code. This sort of confuses me because my friend said he had to email a scan of his student ID card and a schedule. That was around a month ago. I got my code in a couple days without verification. [editline]09:35PM[/editline] Actually, I remember that my school was on the list, but because we don't have .edu email addresses I contacted our IT. Even though we're on the list we don't have an activation code, but I wonder if that has something do with me getting verified without ID.
Oh I actually forgot about this. Thanks for the link.
I'm surprised I didn't need any ID.

My school isn't in there :saddowns: [editline]04:26PM[/editline] Holy shit, they've fixed it :aaa:
The site dont work for me?
What doesn't work about it?
BQ7DC-ALBRC-O771B-CY7PC-6ZWU4 If this code doesn't work then I am sorry. Also if you don't have a .edu email try http://www.australia.edu/ You will see a free email sign up. Do it and wait about a day for the admin to accept your email. BUT DON'T DONATE TO MAKE IT GO FASTER. But it does work. Like mine is nerdygamer@australia.edu. Uses a google mail thing.

Damnit Australian government, the email addresses given to every school student in australia are formatted like so. <name>@education.nsw.gov.au Note the lack of .edu at the end, so no dreamspark.
charliesome@caulfieldgs.vic.edu.au Where's the missing .edu? :p Anyway, I don't even know where I can put a .edu email address in to get DreamSpark, so it doesn't help
Dammit, my college isn't on there; but one VERY near to it is :( Imma ask my computing tutor to do something about it.

For you non-students and people who have no other means of getting software. If you run a software development group, a company, or if you're just an individual, you should look into BizSpark by Microsoft. It's basically an upper equivalent to DreamSpark, meaning it has more software. If you want to check it out, get more information, or request an account, just drop an email to bizspark@nwdevs.com
We just got it today. I'm interested in this F# business.
