So I want to eventually be part of the game industry and to work with teams to make games eventually in my future and things I have been learning about it from people that are already in the industry is that most have skills in programming, modeling, level design, etc... instead of just being able to only model or only program.
I want to be a level designer but thats something I started doing with hammer when I was 12 and worked on an off with it for about 6 years while using other editors like spark or HPL2(Amnesia editor) except depending on where I get a job somewhere in my future, the level building tools could always been different and change.
So I really want to focus my time now on learning programming and languages and I keep hearing that C and OpenGL are really good to learn when being in the game industry since from the little I know about programming is that learning the languages like C will be useful regardless of where you go since C wouldnt vary from company to company.
Could anyone point me in the right direction for starting off at the very beginning with C/OpenGL? Specifically tutorials to start me off along with some good books.
Besides tutorials, should I use notepad ++ or something else?
