Thought you chaps might find this an interesting project -
How does it work? Every time a tweet about a trending topic includes three words that appear in that order in the Complete Works of William Shakespeare we'll note it down along with the original tweet it came from. When all 810,153 words have been written the experiment will be complete! How can I join in? The idea is that this occurs naturally, that no one can play the system so that it finishes sooner than it should. However for the fans of the Bard's work we've held back a few 'Famous Quotes' for you to subtly work into tweets about cats, celebrity divorce and your favourite TV shows. Of course you can read all the plays and see the tweets that are re-writing them. Some are quite amusing!
http://www.tweetspeareproject.com/ We did this in just a little over 24 hours, Enjoy!
That is brilliant.
Thought I'd just update more useful / interesting pages: Our twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/WillTweetspeare/ Bard Page : http://www.tweetspeareproject.com/bard/kyufunkytown___/ Novel Breakdown: http://www.tweetspeareproject.com/alls-well-that-ends-well/
I like the website design, especially the fading in/out header.
Mother of jesus, this is holy. (not religious or anything)
I really want to implement a REST API into this so I can start dumping data into something like processing/openframeworks. Will have to wait till Monday to ask the guys if it's possible.
You probably didn't see this:
To the people making the twitter Shakespeare thing (if you still read these messages). You're timer will most likely be way off since you can't expect the percentage to go up linearly. With less and less possible phrases available for people to say, the slower the rate will be.
Btw, I'd just like to say that the idea of having a weekend for a project with a team you personally know twice (or more) a year is really awesome. I hope that I get to have something like that in my life.
Oh, totally it's great fun doing those things - and of course, the timer will eventually increase as the less used if not never used words are the remaining. We completely envisage that - it's just a really awesome idea by one of the guys at our place - I'm new to the team and they are an awesome bunch.
