Why do hosting Companies still write this? When will people learn that unlimited IS NOT unlimited. There is no unlimited ever. And am I correct If I think most people who buy 'UNLIMITED' Packages just because they are 'UNLIMITED' are kids?
I tend to believe it's because they can suck in people who are illiterate and actually believe it's possible. Therefore make more money.
Wasn't thread worthy but still, I know a load of people who think unlimited still actually means they can use what they like. And like the person above said they pull people in, although I won't go with people who advertise it as 'unlimited'.
Yea, just tried to understand... are their really people who think they get unlimited disk space? (And don't they read ToS?)
I see unlimited as unmetered.. Anyways there is no way your website will ever exceed 10GB of space, while only using up 5% CPU power. (I believe the max is 25% and must only be used for less then 10 seconds) All the files that you are hosting on the Shared-Hosting account must be accessible to users (in other words: you can't use their service just to store your porn) [also no porn must be on their servers] Nor can you make an image host website (eg Photobucket) or a file sharing website (Megaupload/Rapidshare) The only reason why I see myself using a hosting company that has "unlimited" Bandwidth, is because I might be having some flash games which will require uploading to the user. In the end, as long as you follow the service ToS you will get what you paid for. Btw, I don't know for sure what they mean by "unlimited" bandwidth (or how much you get [in-reality] or its speed) because I haven't signed up to any of those plans (yet). I'm going to start with lithiumhosting :) then move onto something bigger when I need more space.

They decide what their 'unlimited' means, unlimited isn't unmetered, most shared hosts put unlimited when they actually still have limits.. you just have to read through their ToS to find them.
it's like an eat as much as you like buffet - there's not infinite food but you can eat as much of it as you want unless you're affecting the quality of other customers meals.
