• Android emulator taking a LONG time to load via Eclipse

Hello, I have a question, or maybe it's a problem. I've just started using java to code for android, because I'm probably getting a Hero, but it seems to take a very long time for the emulator to actually get to the right bit, it says ANDROID_ for ages, then goes to shiny android, then goes to the actual thing, I'm wondering if I installed wrong or something because it seems to me that something like that shouldn't take that long, or is it that long for everyone? Also could it be because i'm using eclipse? Thanks in advance.
It's just really slow, the loading times seem to be consistent from a 1.3Ghz netbook to a 3Ghz Dual Core.
You don't have to shut the emulator down between compiles, just leave it running while you code.
and it updates it on it's own or what?
Yep, it only starts up an emulator if none is already running.
Ah, okay thank you.
If you are planning on getting a Hero, why don't you wait a few weeks and get the Desire when it will be cheaper?
when you get your android phone, you can just deploy your code directly on your handset, if it's plugged in via usb (obviously), it has saved me a lot of time in previous projects
