When you are coding in PHP are you using any frameworks? And what are you using them to?
Just to mention a few, cakephp, codeigniter, zend, dyi, wasp?
Anyone?
I don't, unnecessary abstraction.
I've heard many good things about CakePHP and CodeIgniter.
I still don't think they're useful for the tiny things I do.
If it's a big project try and use CodeIgniter.
I've also heard good things about CodeIgniter, but haven't tried it myself, I prefer coding by my own. At least for now, that is.
Cool. So are anyone familiar with CodeIgniter?
yeah, here i am.
Me
Cake is great for big data driven projects, the ORM is an enormous time saver.
I use ASP.NET, it's pretty cool.

Yes it is, but it's also not a PHP framework :P

Theoretically you could run it using a passthru call to Mono.
Working on a site at the moment where the clients have insisted on using Zend. So far, it's just caused more problems
Personally not a huge fan of frameworks, I'd rather code my own.

This.
Then you know the ins and outs of it and have the ability to code quickly. Assuming that you already have the framework. :P

Exactly, I'd rather write my own and know it super well than have to constantly reference functions.
Personally I like Flourish - the PHP 'Unframework' - rather than forcing yourself to code with a framework (I've found the vast majority of frameworks need to be used right from the start and you generally have to do things their way, or modify/extend their way), you can use it here and there to do things with less code than if you were working from scratch.
You can also benefit from it in an existing project, as I did when I transitioned Imgkk from the old single page AJAX version to the current, more sensible multi page version.
Never used any frameworks, just takes time.

Is ASP.net a PHP framework now? No. So it doesn't help the OP at all - something which has always been bannable.

He could go on and begin learning to use ASP.NET's functionality, therefore eliminating the need for PHP. So in theory it could help him if he was willing to give it a go.

Yes, actually. With the right tools, ASP.NET (which is simply a .NET language used on a server), can be used as a PHP framework.

Also my post which basically has the same content.

Actually, no. Your link shows a way to use .NET assemblies from PHP. Mine shows how to use PHP as an actual .NET citizen.

Yeah when the OP asks for a PHP framework and you say "I like ASP.NET [derp]" you're passive aggressively pushing your opinion on the OP when he didn't ask to be swayed. You know turb was well aware he was doing this. I think its pretty silly how you rationalize it by saying you could still use PHP with ASP.NET when its totally irrelevant.

This is a questionably obvious statement.

Why would it be irrelevant? ASP.NET makes no assumptions about the language used. ASP.NET only comprises of the web aspect of the .NET Framework, the Framework itself just being its libraries. ASP.NET doesn't really care if you use C#, Visual Basic or Python.
Or Delphi.NET, or IronRuby, or any other .NET language
Symfony is pretty cool too. But I rather don't use any framework.

You're so right I can't believe nobody agrees with you.

If you say that something can't be used with something else, don't show proof that it can be. That is totally irrelevant.
