Reliable VPS hosting needed

For my new file/image host I need to upgrade to a VPS due to hosting providers not liking file hosting..

Anyone have any ideas of any reliable hosts?

I can spend upto around £30-£40 a month, and need quite a bit of webspace.

Yeah, I heard about it before, just never actually had a look..

I went with someone before, urgentVPS, who set up half of it, and just left my cPanel out.. and just left it, and never refunded me, even though they said they would. :saddowns:

So anything more reliable than that is good..

personaly I'd go with this since fizzadar is a trustworthy guy. Plus the prices are good too

If you have that much (you said €30 to €40 per month), get a dedicated server from [url=http://interserver.net]Interserver[/URL]. Both vladh and I use them and they're fucking cheap as.

1GB/250GB/2TB, 100mbps connection

No harder than a VPS assuming both are bare bones.

They run a 24-hour burn in test on the physical hardware of your dedi before deploying it. Once it's online, just type this (assuming you picked Debian)

Here's a no-nonsense setup:

# apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 mysql-server phpmyadmin

If you want mono, use this in addition to the line above:

# echo "deb http://www.backports.org/debian lenny-backports main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
# apt-get update
# apt-get install mono-2.0-devel mono-apache-server2 libapache2-mod-mono 

You can use nginx with Mono and/or PHP running as a FastCGI handler, but that requires more to setup than a couple of commands

Set anonymous_enable=NO, local_enable=YES, write_enable=YES in /etc/vsftpd.conf

Remove root from /etc/ftpusers

I see no problem (apart from the permissions nazis who hate root)
