• Recommendation for a free, simple CMS?

I'm working on a website for a group that doesn't need a powerful CMS, they just need to be able to change select snippets of text on different pages and maybe update a news feed. Is there a free (or cheap), straightforward CMS that I can attach to already-existing code? Alternatively, how difficult would something like this be to build? I don't really have any experience with php/mysql, but I'd be willing to learn if there isn't really much out there that meets the need. Thanks.
Yeah, theres a few things out on the internet they can use to bolt onto there exsisting site. I have used PageLime (http://pagelime.com/pricing/) in the past, and its fantastic, and VERY easy to get into. If you need something a bit more *deep*, there very easy to make yourself.
I would also recommend Pagelime.. it's very good. Also you could go with smaller ones like, Pixie, if that's what you're looking for, i used to use them too. It's free and pretty simple to use.. but I'm not sure about adding it to existing code.. http://www.getpixie.co.uk/
Making one is also very simple.. And better, in my opinion, since it's your code and it's easier to hoop it up to existing code which is also written by you.

I played around with Halogy (from the same guy that does InvoiceBubble), seems pretty simple + easy to use. Have a little play around with it. Edit: Arf, registration is currently closed. Drop me a PM though and I might lend you my account
Joomla! http://www.joomla.org/ Drupal http://drupal.org/ Wordpress http://wordpress.org/ Wordpress - Very simple Drupal - Good for devs (Making themes, scripts, etc.) Joomla - Very powerful but tight learning curve I recommend Wordpress for you. Even though it's intended for blogging, it's a good CMS. If you don't like it, then your next best choice would be Drupal.
jetboy, get out. He asked for a simple, all of these are overkill for what he wants.
Thanks for the recommendations, all. I think I'm gonna start with PageLime and see if that fits, then maybe try making my own if it doesn't work quite the way I want it to. Thanks again!

I use Joomla for my site. It takes a little bit of time to learn, but once you get it down it can be used for a simple and powerful site.
You may want to check out CushyCMS - http://www.cushycms.com/ It takes a different approach to the other CMS's, this one you edit your site on cushycms and it uploads files via FTP. Pretty basic but powerful - never used it though.
