• Need some design suggestions

I suck at web design. I threw together this wordpress template (still a WIP, obviously). I want it to look 8bit, but I'm very uninspired and I don't know what to do to make it feel 8bit. www.n8bit.com Anyone wanna help out or throw me some tips/ideas/suggestions?
If you're going for the whole pixely 8bit look you need to lose the gradient on the background an the transparency on the content areas.
And fix Internal Server Errors from fatcow-inc.com, while you're at it. The puns. They buuuuuurn
It's nice but maybe cut the padding and stuff so I don't have to scroll down as much. Like this:
If you're going for the whole pixely 8bit look you need to lose the gradient on the background an the transparency on the content areas.
As well, stick to a grid (make sure everything lines up) and try to use only pixelated fonts for a consistent look. For example, my site for my radio station, while being a fairly bad example and utilizing tables for a large majority of the site, uses a custom font for the entire website. And because i'm using my custom font, I can include whatever simple icons in the font file and it allows the page to be fully resizeable. (Try using Ctrl + +/- on it and you'll see what I mean) So if you want to add a custom font to your entire site, read this article: http://www.typotheque.com/webfonts I also stick to a very limited pallete of two colors, but I did that so any user that signs up can choose whatever two colors they want and the entire website will change with it for them. Now, there's also my personal site that i'm working on. I'm trying to stick to a 16 color pallet of my choosing, and keeping consistent sizes for pixels. For headers, pixels are 5x their size. Normal text, 3x their size. And so on. But currently i'm being lazy and keeping the text at the bottom of the website in the non-pixelated form of the header. Which is 'Monotype Corsiva'. One last thing, make your colors have more contrast.
Awesome replies, thanks everyone. Fantastic tips, HeroicPillow. Thanks a bunch :buddy: I have a great idea for a main design now. I'll post my results
