Fuck r4. Fuck Winamp's Visualizations, Fuck G-Force, fuck itunes '1 trick', Fuck all of those.
A better music visualizer can and will be made, some day you bet. So why not now? Why not me? I have a lot of ideas from my heavy drug use that I could turn into something valuable.
I'm seeking programming expertise to help me create a music visualizer with high customizability and interactivity.
Key features :

[*]Standalone application that detects sound output and reacts to it.
[*]Takes advantage of DirectX9, or Open GL or equivelent graphical API's.

[*]An online archive of Top rated effects/The ability to browse/download in application

So I'm more than down for contributing input/testing anyone who wants to help with this APP. Once finished it could then be sold to any content distribution network like steam and could bring in $$$$$$$$.

I have a lot of knowledge on the subject of programming and api's and stuff.
To be honest, I prefer more simple visualizers. Just a simple green scope is enough for me.

Let's face it, you're an ideas guy, and you want a bunch of amateur programmers to start a project that will take possibly years. Although some of us have some experience in using music to control the flow of a game, this is just impossible.
I have some experience in the audio part of programming and manipulating.
In saying this, I don't think it's impossible. Just would be really hard to do.
Look at the pictures. The problem that I'm sure everyone is thinking is that doing the audio checking would be hard. Though what I think would be the hardest is doing the effects itself.
Well, except for the 5th picture, that looks like a similar effect could be done with randomly colored circles and some particles thrown in. :P
Anyway, don't believe everything I said, because I have some experience in audio manipulation. I'm no expert. So I could be wrong.
Of course it's possible, and doable, take your doubt elsewhere guys. The game Polynomial was programmed by just one guy, and he spent a lot of time on features I wouldn't have.
You obviously don't know anything about how it's done and that's the proof of you being an ideas guy who wants to take credit for someone else's work.
Secondly, something like this would take ages to make and also requires a lot of work and knowledge. I don't think anybody will be up for the task.

Okay, so someone decides to do this. What will you do to help? As a graphics artist, you are useless. All the graphics will be generated on the fly based on the music.
If someone decides to help you with this (more likely someone will take your idea and do it themselves and not give you any credit), it will take [b]years[/b]
And are you paying people for this? No? Well, I can safely say that no intelligent person will take this project without being paid.

"Years" seems a little bit exaggerative. We have a few people who already have done the basics of this. Of course, making a quality, finished product is a whole other thing, but really, there's no way to determine whether it would take a couple months or several years. It all depends on the person(s), the direction, the ambition, unforeseen complications, etc.
Really, I don't see how this is any different than any of the other projects in WAYWO, apart from the competition (established, polished software mentioned in the OP), and the fact that no ones actually working on it, of course.

This project isn't going to happen unless you start it yourself.

2. It's your dream not ours, you said anything is possible then why not do it yourself?

I do have programming experience in a variety of languages, but I'm not fluent enough to do this myself, but thanks for the DOUBT.

I would be contributing textures for use as particles, overlays, effects etc. I have a library of high resolution graphical elements that would be useful for this project.
