I want to make games but I can't choose between learning Java, C++, or ActionScript 3. Any opinions on which one to start with, or which is the best or easiest? Thanks. Also if any of those suck to start learning with anyone have any suggestions on other languages
AS3 is very easy to get into and learn the basics, if you ask me.
Flash is becoming deprecated, I suggest not learning ActionScript.
C++, then Java (or Java first), and some Python.
Python is often refered to as the a good start for beginners, and that's for a good reason, although it's simple and easy interface is .. well, simple, it's also quite powerful. Python powers stuff such as the Ubuntu installation process, Exaile Music Player, gentoo's portage, and a LOT more things are built with/using python :)
I think I'm going to start with c++ then some java or python. Thanks all for the help.
Wait wait wait... Why do you want to learn how to program?
Flash is becoming deprecated, I suggest not learning ActionScript.
Is this the whole html5 argument people keep making?
Wait wait wait... Why do you want to learn how to program?
I want to learn how to program because I want to be able to make my own games and make addons for games. Also I want a job where I script, make games or applications when I get older.
