I apologize if I look really fucking stupid for asking this, but I figured I would try to help a man out by getting him a man to help him out.
Basically, a Doomworld member is designing a Doom mod around the original Doom design document (known as the Doom Bible), but in order to do this, he needs to make a few modifications to the source code of a Doom source port called chocolate doom. He knows nothing about programming and neither do I, and the reason I'm asking this instead of simply redirecting him to Facepunch is that he got banned from FP a while back.
Would any of you be kind enough to help him out? You can either PM him, or post in this thread. Once again, I apologize if this post looks really stupid, but I know nothing about programming so I tried to help out in the way I could.
A user breaks the rules here and then expects programming help? Hah.
Is your head really that far up your ass?

Your friend came to this forum, knew the rules, broke them, got banned, and now asks for help for a project that won't go anywhere (read: your post says 'designing'). It's funny because he put himself in a bad position.
Even if it appears to be that way, you don't need to be rude about it.
Smug, you won't be able to recruit coders just by asking nicely. You need to show them something that will convince them their time is going to something worth while. Show some design screenshots?
I'm not trying to be rude. Really, I'm not. Maybe blunt, but not rude.
Even if you don't try to kill someone it's still manslaughter. :eng101:

Well, I suppose it will only be interesting to those who are interested in the history of Doom, but here's some shots anyway:

From what I know, he's asking for some pretty insignificant changes to the engine, but I'm not entirely sure.
You can see a video of the early Doom alphas here.
Well, what're the changes? If they're small enough I might see if I can do them.
From what I know, all he actually wants to do is have someone implement the class code from Hexen (also based on the Doom engine) into Chocolate Doom's source code.

AFAIK, Hexen is not open-source, so it isn't as simple as copying stuff over. That being said, character classes shouldn't be a difficult thing to implement from scratch.
Really? I thought they released the source code.

Just checked, it was released in 2008.
