I feel disconnected from computer science socially on the internet, and I usually end up being in my own little 'real world bubble' when I'm studying. Will that harm me in the future and if yes is there anything I can do about it?
I can't really get this off my mind. I do not know how to take advantage of the internet socially, really.
edit: Am I asking the wrong questions?

This makes me think you're anxious about your online image - is that right or did I misread that?
Anyway, you need to find out what you want from interacting socially online (what are you actually asking for when you say "take advantage of the internet socially"?) and what may be stopping you (shyness/anxiety, etc.)
I don't think it would hurt you to miss out on it in the future, but I find it can certainly help to interact with like minded people in whatever form you choose - be it over the internet or in person directly. WAYWO is a good place for this. Post what you make, what you're reading about, etc. and maybe someone will ask you about your approach to certain problems/solutions. It's a very good skill to have to be able to explain why you did something a certain way, that's just one of the benefits I've found of talking about what you make with like-minded people.
Plus, it's more fun.
By the wrong question I mean approach to the situation I have at hand; quite literally, wording.
Yes, what you described is essentially what I want to do, but I prefer the chat room approach and I was hoping to get pointers as to where should I head out to on the internet. What essentially happens is I have nobody else to talk with about computer science other than people in my college, which are often busy with other activities or don't talk with people on the internet much at all. I don't really have a lot of places to ask in.
I thought facepunch would be a good place to do this, but I often feel lost when I need to get around social situations.

Well there's FPP, with the very apt description of
"Not that it's worth being in there anyway, since most of the time people are just retarded in there and any serious conversation isn't possible." - DrLuke 2014
On a serious note, try the programming rooms on larger IRC channels or maybe mailing lists.
I don't have much experience with either though, since I think a good forum is a better format for this kind of thing.
You can also try chatting with people directly over for example Steam or Skype. My account should be linked on the left and I'll gladly help out most people most of the time if I know how and it's not a "do the work for me" kind of thing. I probably should mention that I complain a lot while doing so though :v:
If you don't have any particular question that's great too, I really like chatting with people usually even though I don't start conversations very often.

Twitter can be nice too, if you browse a programming language's hashtag.
