Just going to post it here before anyone else falls for the same shite.
Yahoo Hosting doesn't allow .htaccess. Fucking idiots.
Does anyone know a really fast web host?
Free or paid? I assume paid because you said "really fast" but you mentioned Yahoo which I believe is free hosting. I lot of people here like LithiumHosting. I personally rent a VPS and host it myself.
Paid for, I honestly can't be arsed with setting it up myself. lel.
Shared hosts are pretty much never going to be "really fast", if speed is really important I would get a VPS. lel.

How do you figure? I've been with lithium before and now with Deroyalservers. Both are quite fast.

You're also probably not operating at any significant scale.
It's simple math really. Shared hosts have lots of people on the same box. With a VPS you are still sharing the machine with others, but not on the same scale that you are with a shared host. With a VPS or a dedi you have a specific amount of system resources that you are guaranteed to have access to.
Not to mention the fact that you can't actually install or manage anything at a server level on shared hosting the vast majority of the time, which means no things like memcached, no tweaking your web server or database configuration, etc.
As a guy that has been a Yahoo 'customer' for (give or take) five years, and still technically has a Small Business Account (due to a billing error that somehow managed to give me a free domain name for what seems to be life) I can say, with absolutely no doubt, Yahoo is one of the worst website hosting providers ever to exist. (not as bad as 1and1, but by golly they are close)
I'd suggest switching to *any* web hosting platform out there. Whether it be my own platform, LithiumHosting, or even HostGator. Seriously, they're all better than Yahoo's poor excuse of a hosting platform. Heck, most free hosts are better than Yahoo's paid hosting services, which is rather pathetic, given Yahoo's premium price and name reputation.
Also, KmartSqrl is correct. Shared hosting isn't intended if you're looking for an ultra-fast experience. Plus, VPS hosting offers more control over the server, which is always a good thing. Though, some shared hosting providers are more than capable of offering a fast and reliable experience. It really does depend on how the host manages their servers, and if they overload them. (HostGator has been known to oversell their servers)
All in all, picking between shared hosting and VPS depends entirely on your hosting needs. If you simply require a 'pay and it's up' type of service, with no bull, shared is the way to go. However, if you want a bit more control over the server, and if you're alright with setting up a VPS, than the VPS option is the best.
You'll usually get more power with a VPS than with a shared host, too.

Just a heads up, don't use 'lel', beacuse this isn't 4chan.
I use nfoservers to host my website, they have good support and it was easy to setup my domain with the webhost I purchased, plus with good prices. Up to you but my website has good speed as well.

They don't support wildcard subdomains, this was a dealbreaker for me
Pair Networks has been operating for over 15 years, and they've never let me down -- they are insanely fast. A friend has a dedicated box from them since 2004 and its only had 8 hours of downtime.
I'm using Gandi right now, and it's not bad, but I don't think it's that good either. I about to switch to Digital Ocean because I got $100 credit (which is 20 months worth) and it's a lot more flexible since you have your own box
This is the primary reason why I do my research first before committing to any hosting provider. I would pay for a higher price provided with lesser headache.
